Why it exists: Passkeys only improve future login when users actually create one. The floating panel gives you a visible follow-up prompt after authentication, when the user is already inside the site.
How It Works
User signs in
The user authenticates through a supported VentraConnect flow.
VentraConnect checks eligibility
On supported Pro surfaces, the plugin can determine whether the signed-in user should be prompted to set up a Passkey.
The floating panel appears
A compact prompt gives the user a clear opportunity to start Passkey registration.
User registers a Passkey
The browser opens the normal WebAuthn authenticator flow.
Future login becomes easier
The newly registered Passkey can be used on supported VentraConnect login surfaces.

Prompt a customer after checkout or while using their account instead of interrupting purchase completion.

Encourage signed-in members to strengthen and simplify future access.

Offer Passkey setup once the learner is already inside a supported course or account experience.

Recommended Configuration Approach
- Start with a helpful message rather than aggressive wording. Explain that the Passkey will make future sign-in faster and safer.
- Keep the prompt secondary to the user’s main task. Do not let Passkey setup compete with checkout completion, course access, or account management.
- Test dismissal and repeat behavior. Make sure the panel does not become an annoying repeated interruption in your chosen configuration.
- Keep fallback login methods available during adoption.

Relationship to Password Phaseout
The Floating Passkey Setup Panel is useful before you make password-based login less prominent. It can help build Passkey adoption first, giving more users a modern login method before you enable a stricter Password Phaseout mode.
