Use Social Login, Passkeys, Magic Link, and Email OTP across supported WooCommerce customer authentication flows.
VentraConnect Pro extends all four VentraConnect authentication methods into supported WooCommerce login and customer account flows.
The WooCommerce integration lets you place these methods on supported WooCommerce authentication surfaces while keeping account creation aligned with the intended customer journey.
Before You Start
Make sure:
- WooCommerce is installed and active.
- VentraConnect Pro is installed and active.
- The authentication methods you want to use are already configured in VentraConnect.
- Your Social Login providers are configured and tested before enabling WooCommerce placement.
- Passkeys meet their requirements, including PHP 8.1+ and HTTPS on production sites.
Placement does not configure the authentication method itself. WooCommerce placement controls where already-configured VentraConnect methods appear.
Enable the WooCommerce Integration
In VentraConnect Pro:
- Open the WooCommerce integration settings.
- Enable the WooCommerce integration.
- Choose the WooCommerce authentication placements you want to use.
- Save your changes.
Once enabled, VentraConnect can display the active authentication methods on supported WooCommerce login and customer account surfaces.
Placement and account eligibility are separate. Showing a login method on a WooCommerce surface does not by itself decide whether that surface may create a new WordPress account.
Choose WooCommerce Placements
Common WooCommerce contexts include:
For login and registration forms, placement can typically be configured around the form depending on the options available in the integration settings.
Authentication Methods Available in WooCommerce
Password Phaseout is separate. Password Phaseout controls how strongly your site moves existing users away from passwords. It is not where Magic Link or Email OTP are enabled.
WooCommerce My Account & Customer Login
The WooCommerce My Account login area is primarily an existing-customer authentication surface.
VentraConnect can let existing customers authenticate there using Social Login, Passkeys, Magic Link, or Email OTP when those methods are enabled and placed on the form.
If Guardrails keep a login surface existing-user-only, new visitors should use the store's intended registration or checkout flow instead.
WooCommerce Checkout
Checkout is different from a normal login form because it is an intentional WooCommerce account-creation flow.
Guardrails do not block new-user account creation at WooCommerce checkout.
If WooCommerce checkout allows account creation, a new customer can still create an account through checkout while using the authentication options available there.
Existing customers can also authenticate during checkout when the relevant VentraConnect placement is enabled.
Test checkout separately from My Account. They are different customer journeys and should not be assumed to have identical account-creation behaviour.
Account Matching & Existing Customers
The goal is to authenticate the correct existing customer without creating unnecessary duplicate WordPress or WooCommerce customer accounts.
Test the WooCommerce Integration
Recommended test:
- Open a private or incognito browser window.
- Visit the WooCommerce My Account page.
- Confirm the expected VentraConnect methods appear in the configured positions.
- Test login with an existing customer account.
- Add a product to the cart and continue to Checkout.
- Confirm the expected authentication options appear where enabled.
- Test an existing-customer checkout login.
- Test a completely new customer separately.
- Confirm checkout account creation still follows WooCommerce checkout settings.
- Verify the customer lands on the expected page after authentication.
If Authentication Methods Do Not Appear
- Confirm VentraConnect Pro is active.
- Confirm the WooCommerce integration is enabled.
- Confirm the authentication method itself is enabled and configured.
- Confirm the relevant WooCommerce placement is enabled.
- Clear page, browser, CDN, and WooCommerce-related caches.
- Test while fully logged out in an incognito window.
- Check whether your theme or WooCommerce template overrides replace the normal login or checkout markup.
- Review VentraConnect diagnostics when the provider or authentication flow itself fails.
